Mid Event Company Update

by

Things are progressing quite nicely at Startup Weekend Cedar City.  Programmers and designers in their well-equipped stations are building amazing products while their biz dev team members are out of the building validating the products and models.

Whiteboards are filled with braindump/mindmap remnants from last night and hashed out ideas that teams have run through the lean canvas.

SWCC Team2

Discussions continue as feedback returns from the validation.

You would think that after a sleepless night for many, the huge, comfy bags downstairs would be covered with semi-comatosed corpses, but no luck, all are hard at work and building with continued energy.

Now on to the company updates:

howMIdoin.co is a mobile app that replaces your phone’s unlock screen with a quick survey that allows you to determine your mood based on your selection from an assortment of 5 moods.  The app promises to track the changes over time giving you important insight into trends in your moods.

localsforhire.com is an app that connects home owners with home service companies in real time.  When a home owner is in need of a particular service a bid request along with time restrictions is sent out to the network allowing the service companies to respond with their price and ability to meet the time requirements.  The home owner will also have the ability to rate the service company upon completion of the service.

toweaze.com is a mobile app that addresses the need of towing companies to track mileage, expenses and the reimbursement associated with each service request.  The app promises to integrate gps tracking into the app.

jumpstartmylife.com allows you to provide cash donations for any life event (baby birth, showers, weddings, graduations, etc.)  The app is targeted at customers either too busy to shop or those who need to provide a last-minute ‘gift’ upon arriving to an event.

spotika is an app that awards users with badges for visiting locations or attending events.  Event hosts or business owners can reward badges based on attendance and at a premium can create a customized badge with their logo.

cheers is an app where ‘everyone knows your name.’  The app promises to increase the customer experience wherever a user goes utilizing Bluetooth Beacons.  As the bluetooth on your phone detects a  beacon when you walk into a location the app sends customized information to the location (name, photo, customer level) allowing retail establishments to make every customer feel they are valued.

As always, Startup Weekend Cedar City is shaping up to produce some incredible products and is bringing the best out of the participants and their respective teams.
